A Girl's Best Friend?

The movie Gentlemen Prefer Blondes may have coined the phrase "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend", but if the interest in rare colored diamonds keeps growing the way it is, someone may have to change that familiar expression to "Colored Diamonds are Everyone's Best Friend."

Colored diamonds appear to be everywhere you look right now. Ever since Ben Affleck proposed to his then girlfriend Jennifer Lopez with a reported 1 million dollar rare pink diamond, enormous publicity has hit the colored diamond market. At the recent Oscar Awards, Adriana Barraza wore 120 carats of yellow diamonds and cognac colored diamonds. Even one of the films nominated at this years awards, "Blood Diamond", was about a rare pink diamond. Colored diamonds are becoming more and more common in Hollywood and with investors alike.

And with good reason. Colored diamonds are not only beautiful to look at, but they are exceptionally rare and valuable. Naturally occurring pink diamonds never even cross the path of most jewellers, and just tracking down a flawless colored diamond can be next to impossible.
