Celebrities Go Cuckoo for Canary

Traditionally, a white diamond ring represents an engagement but more and more it’s colored diamonds that are popping up with the big question.

“The demand for colored diamonds in the last 18 months has exceeded the last 10 years combined; it’s increasing in a manner that is off the charts- beyond my wildest dreams,” Alan Friedman, a designer and manufacturer of colored diamonds said in a recent L.A. Times article. Among colored baubles, canary tops the list.

The rare-colored diamond is more expensive than its clear cousin, so its no wonder celebrities have caught on to the trend.

Although Jennifer Aniston swears she’s not engaged to ‘funny guy’ Vince Vaughn, that doesn’t stop her from wearing a 9.5 carat canary diamond ring by Suzy Fabrikant on her left ring finger. The ring is reportedly worth $500,000.

It’s no secret that Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock spontaneously wed aboard a yacht this summer. Kid gave Pam a canary ring with heart-shaped side stones totaling 18 carats that has an estimated value of $750,000.

Finally, from one of the most stable relationships in Hollywood, Heidi Klum wears a 10 carat, fancy yellow diamond set in a canary pavé band from hubby Seal. Her ring is not so much about the cost (only $150,000!) but the union that it symbolizes between an unbreakable couple.

Other stars on the canary craze trend include actor Dennis Quaid, Sports Illustrated cover model Veronica Varekova and Red Sox baseball star Johnny Damon.

So splash a touch of sunshine onto your wardrobe with an oval cut ring, tear drop necklace or pear drop earrings that come in a light yellow hue that’s adored by the stars. You might not be able to afford the real thing, but you can buy elegant canary rings from Emitations that will outlast most celebrities’ marriages!
